12. Revision of Facilitator’s Guide for Peer Leader Training Programme
Plan Sri Lanka implements a special project at 5 locations under the ASRH Programme. The project aims to improve the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of in-school adolescents using a peer based approach. Enhancing the capacity of the peer leaders is one of the requirements for the successful implementation of the project. Desensitization and the improvement of knowledge, attitudes and skills of peer leaders are to be attained through a special in-house participatory training programme. This training programme uses a number of training tools and IEC materials, such as a peer leaders manual, power point based lecture demonstrations, video and audio activities etc. The training is expected to be implemented by a group of facilitators.
The training manual for peer leaders has been developed and field tested. A guide for adult facilitators has also been developed and is being revised.
The Peer Leader training aims to achieve to desensitize peer leaders in dealing with ASRH issues and to increase Peer Leaders knowledge in ASRH as to enhance their performance.
The training is mostly centred on the peer leaders manual providing instructions to trainees on what to do during the training as well as containing reference materials.
The training is designed in 3 modules ( Getting started, Reproductive system and functions, responding to demands and avoiding vulnerabilities during adolescence).
The adult facilitators should follow the instructions provided in the facilitator's guide. |
