2007 Child Diary "Living together"
Plan Sri Lanka and FRD have published the 2007 Child Diary in Sinhala, Tamil and English. The diary has been distributed in more 400 schools in the Southern Region of Sri Lanka.
Its contents are coordinated with radio magazines and uploaded in the web-site "Youth Reporters" Two years ago Sri Lanka lived the terrible experience of the tsunami, difficult to forget. Some lost families, friends and homes. Many others lost their smiles. However, life has gone on, houses are being rebuilt, schools are being repaired and improved
The Child Diary 2007 will help school children to grow into a Culture of Tolerance and Social Harmony. Often human groups tend to be difficult to each other. We need to learn how to respect the others. This diary aims to be functional and educational, while at the same time fun to read: ideas, examples, comics or stories which help human groups to understand each other, respect the differences and learn how to be tolerant in daily life.

Symbolic handing over of Children Diary 2007
to Hon. Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka

Symbolic handing over of children Diaries to the Hon. Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka produced by Fund for Relief and Development(FRD) in collaboration with Plan Sri Lanka is scheduled to be held at Prime Minister’s Office No 58, Sir Ernest de Silva Mawatha, Colombo 7.

The FRD in Collaboration with Plan Sri Lanka has published a Children’s Dairy for 2007 in Sinhala, Tamil and English. 18,000 copies of the book are to be distributed freely among children of Hambantota District which was severely affected by the onslaught of the Tsunami.
The objective of the Children’s Diary is to promote human values among primary school children for living fostering an attitude of tolerance for easier co-existence of different social groups. The diary will serve as a practical and amazing instrument for them to organize their time and tasks. It promotes a culture of peace in the relationships among people, families, cultures and nature.
Diary of Children will help school children to come to terms with the psychosocial consequences of the tsunami as well as for acquiring and improving life skills.
It provides entertainment, stories, anecdotes, life examples, comics and ideas for manual activities.
Teachers would use it as a tool for dealing with human values.
The delegation comprising representatives of Fund for Relief and Development and Plan Sri Lanka will meet Hon. Ratnasiri Wickremanayke, The Prime Minister on the 14th of May 2007 at 3 pm at the office of the Hon Prime Minster, No 58, Sir Ernest de Silva Mawatha, Colombo 7 to make the symbolic presentation of the Children’s Diary.

Dr. Marc Morival, Secretary General Fund for Relief and Development and Mr. Juliano Fernando, Acting Country Director, Plan Sri Lanka along with senior officials will be present at this symbolic presentation to the Hon. Prime Minister.
